Oh, The Power
There have been many people out there claiming these massive claims of how you can gain thousands if not hundreds of thousands of followers by using there system. The real question is what is the value to the follower?
The concept of doing giveaways on Twitter has been a growing practice that many celebrities have embraced. The thing about celebrities though, is that they already have massive amounts of fans. Of course a giveaway is not going to hurt them, but are those really accurate statistics on how many new followers they gained?
I will say this about Twitter giveaways: it does increase your followers quickly.
People do not move unless they have to. People enjoy being comfortable. If I were to put $25 in front of you on a desk but just said it's here you may be able to receive this, you probably would not get up to get it. Now if I said here is $25 you could win, but first by tomorrow you have to tell all your friends they have a chance to win this as well and you have to Tweet about it then you are more likely to do something. Why? because if you don't do something you can't get that $25. If you want the $25 you will do something for it.
Obviously at $25 most are not willing to do much, but if you were giving away $1000 people would be more apt to do a lot more to get that $1000.
With this in mind you can see why Twitter giveaways are of value to companies and individuals wishing to grow there followers. Giveaways are nothing more than a marketing tool to the person using the giveaway.
On the flip side, Twitter giveaways are fun and enjoyable games to the ones registering for them. The more enjoyable and fun it is for a user to register for a giveaway the more viral it tends to be.
